Vastu Shastra is an ancient Hindu architectural system that is supposed to have its origins in about 6000 BC. This ancient word is basically translated "architecture science" and represents a conduit between man and nature and provides laws on housing construction along the right guidelines for a healthy, rich and peaceful housing.
According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Brahma asked Vishwakarma to develop an architectural system that included the powers of the five basic elements: air, water, earth, fire and space. This system helps in the organization of space within a structure based on its function in relation to each other as well as its use. Although this concept has been passed on for so many generations over the centuries, sadly, as of today, this science has become a debatable question.
The current generation can not understand or accept the meaning of such an old theme in modern constructions, with the end result of many people taking Vastu Shastra into account when buying a new home. They doubt their relevance in the current economic and environmental scenario. These younger Indians are of the opinion that it is better to adapt to new and innovative ways rather than being a "stick in the mud" and follow contemporary ideas; That with the current trend of having to fight for a plot of "air" in multi-storey apartments is so difficult, it is an additional burden to try to adapt that space restricted to the concepts of Vastu Shastra. The general concept now is that Vastu Shastra is for the rich who can afford to spend more to change building plans to fit this ancient science.
