The Kothagudem thermal power station is located in Paloncha in Telangana, India. The plant has an installed capacity of 1,720 MW with 11 units in operation. It is one of the coal-based power plants of Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TSGENCO).
The Kothagudem power plant is an existing 1680 MW coal plant in the Khamman district of Telangana, India. The government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to use the vacant space in three existing coal plants to generate an additional power of 2,400 MW. The three plants are the Vijayawada thermal power project, the Krishnapatnam power project and the Kothagudem thermal power plant, each of which would add 800 MW.
