Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation abbreviated to LMRC, is a state-owned company that will operate the Lucknow Metro in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Formally based in Janpath in Hazratganj, it moved to its new headquarters in Vipin Khand, Gomti Nagar in 2015.
Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India. It is known for its rich cultural heritage. The present population of the city of Lucknow is more than 3 million. As an important service and trade center, Lucknow continues to grow and attracts large numbers of people to the city. The city's rapid growth and associated urban expansion has accentuated the mismatch between supply and demand amid limited public transport infrastructure.
To reinforce and argue the city's transport infrastructure with a holistic multimodal transport system, Govt de U.P. It has decided to implement the Lucknow Metro Rail Project as an integrated mass transit system that meets the mobility and accessibility needs of the people of Lucknow. The DPR of the Lucknow Metropolitan Railway Project approved by the State Government was presented to MoUD on 08.28.2013. MoUD has given its "Approval in principle of Part-1A of the DPR" on 27.12.2013.
The cost of completion (including central taxes) of part 1A (N-S corridor) is 6880 rupees cr. According to the revised DPR submitted to MoUD on 10.10.2013. The project will be implemented in the 50:50 model (model DMRC) with participation in the capital of GoI and GoUP. More than 50% of the project (Rs 3502 cr) will be financed through senior debt from multilateral / bilateral agencies. The FIRR for the project is 8.12% while the EIRR is 19.43%.
To implement the Lucknow Metro Rail Project, a special purpose vehicle (LSP), Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) was incorporated on November 25, 2013 under the Companies Act of 1956. The business start-up certificate was issued on 24.12.2013. This Company will be jointly owned by GoI and GoUP. The authorized capital of the Company is Rs 2000 Cr.
