The boiler is a closed vessel in which steam is generated for use outside itself but does not include a pressure vessel,
I) Capacity less than 25 liters, or
Ii) Design and working pressure of less than 1 kg / cm2, or
(Iii) The water is heated below 100 ° C
Following the entry into force of the 2011 Boiler Operations Engineer Rule, all states and territories of the union will now be conducting the similar examination and will issue the BOE certificate to the selected candidates. Many states, where this examination was not held for many years, have begun to form the Board of Examiners and conduct the examination. The syllabus, eligibility criteria and number of documents are now also the same for all states and UT.
The BOE exam consists of 3 works of 100 points each in boiler theory, numerical calculations and engineering drawing. Once you rate the written papers, you have to appear on a living proof.
Once you acquire the certificate of any state, it is valid in all states of India. However, you may apply to appear for the BOE exam only if the state in which you are employed has formed the Board to conduct the examination. Prior to 2011, some states used to accept the application of candidates from other states if the candidate purchased the NOC from their respective state boiler department. But now, most states are not accepting outstate requests. But then most states have started conducting surveys nowadays and the other states are also likely to follow suit.
Once the Board is formed, the respective boiler department issues a notice regarding the examination to be performed. However, interested candidates must keep in constant contact with their respective Asst divisional office. Directors of Caldera to get accurate information on the current state in this regard.
