BBK DAV College for Women is a university in Amritsar, India. BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar was founded in 1967 under the aegis of the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi. The academic year has a semester system consisting of two terms: from July to December and from January to June. All undergraduate, graduate and diploma programs require a full-time commitment from students and the system does not exempt them from mandatory activities.
Cultural activities
The university has links with international institutes for educational and cultural exchange and the exchange of know-how. It has links to important global education organizations such as WCCI (World Curriculum and Instruction Council), World Education Foundation, Kent County Council, Technology College, Northfleet and Hextable School, and World Punjab Congress, Lahore, Pakistan.
In July 2004, a group of 16 students and professors presented up to 50 programs including the Jagah Ek Gaon Tha play at Woodville Halls Theater, Gravesend, UK. The university dance company was part of the Indian fair which was declared first among the 32 countries that participated in the Dubai International Dance Festival. The artists of the university presented a program of one hour in the border of Wagha on the occasion of the launching of a documentary titled Sarhad ke Rakshak. Umrao Jaan was honored to participate in a five-day National Theater Festival organized by the Urdu Academy, New Delhi. A college student had the honour of representing Punjab at the famous Teej festival held in the town of Gravesend in England. In 2008-09, the popular artists of the university were part of the delegation to China selected by the government of India.
