I have seen in an exhibition some people did a sixth sense like device . It had two pen like pointers that could be used to point at the screen from a distance. The web-camera would track the pen through the IR-LED at its tips and correspondingly move the mouse pointer on the computer screen. The said that they hacked a image viewing software for the i-phone for use with their device. You could change the pictures, rotate and resize it using the pen from a distance. I don' tknow which technology they used but i think it was entirely coding and some hardware.
