This paper proposes a new type of converter called a single-phase Z source matrix buck-boost converter. The converter can invert and amplify with a changed step frequency, and frequency and voltage can be intensified or resigned. In addition, the converter uses a strategy of switching safely, to driving along a current path, which translates into the elimination of spikes on the switches without the need of a circuit of depreciation. The principles of operation of the single-phase Z source matrix proposed buck-boost converter are described, and a circuit analysis is provided. To verify the performance of the proposed converter, a laboratory prototype has been built with a voltage of 40 Vrms / 60 Hz and a passive RL load. The simulation and experimental results verified that the converter can produce a voltage output at three different frequencies 120, 60 and 30 Hz, and that the amplitude of the output voltage can be stimulated and resisted.
