Abstract
According to the Vedic literature every thing material consists of five fundamental elements, called panchabhuthas (viz. earth, water, fire, air and space). These elements constitute the matter we perceive and the surroundings as well. Any construction/ demolition would characterize a certain interactions of these five elements between objects and their surroundings. The present paper is aimed at highlighting the interaction of a typical building and the environment in relation to individual elemental impact at higher intensity level. Thus, the effects and present control measures of earthquake, landslides and tsunamis are discussed. Similarly the impacts of floods, fire and cyclones and existing control measures are briefed.
