Development of an e-Services system for Postal Department
BACKGROUND
The e-Post Office is the shopping portal of the world renowned postal service on the internet and an additional distribution channel. It sells Stamps, PostCards, Packets, Cartons and has services like courier, registering for electricity vendors, selling mobile cards, etc. Under this website many products and services can be ordered , that are also available in a "normal" branch. The product prices are identical with the prices of their normal branches.
The e-Post Office is expanded continuously through new products and services in order to offer a product portfolio corresponding to the market. Private customer and business customers can order the selected products of the postal service online quickly and comfortably. Besides this, the e-Services offer new flexibility through e-Packet, the PICKUP order for packages over the internet as well as the online forwarding order and storage order. For the case of the absence or the move, one can leave instructions here for the postal service to forward the packet to another address or store the letter shipments. The customers can register themselves and can be served individually.
Target groups of customer of the e-PostOffice are predominantly little and middle-class business(SMEs). The customers can have a payment alternative through credit card. In order to use the load writing procedure, the customer registers itself in the e-PostOffice and receives a login for its purchases name.
You have to develop the e-Services portal, which captures the above functionality. It is an internet application
REQUIREMENTS OF THE PROJECT

Following is a list of functions in the system. More functionality that you find appropriate can be added to this list. And, in places where the description of functionality is not adequate, you can make appropriate assumptions and proceed.
Users of the system : Customer is the user of the system. An administrator of the website is the super user.
When the user types in the URL of the website, a Welcome page is shown which has a menu on the left hand side, a banner at the top and any related links to other sites. User has to login to Welcome Page before ordering anything. Login functionality should check the authenticity of the user from the database.
Menu should contain following screens
Registration Screen
If the user is not registered, then registration screen should be available
e-Packet
This screen allows the users to inform the post office that a packet needs to be picked up. Details entered include “ Pick-up address (should default to customer address), packet type (letter, parcel etc.), weight, addressee, pick up date and time. A reference number is generated and displayed to the user. Based on the weight and destination, charges are calculated and displayed to the customer. The packet is picked up only after the customer makes the payment online.
Forwarding instruction
In case the customer has moved to a different address, he/she can leave a forwarding address here. Forwarding service is offered free of cost for 30 days from the date of instruction, after which a nominal fee is payable for every month of renewal.
Storage instruction
In case a customer is going out of station, he/she can leave an instruction with the post office to store the letters received for his address. Customer provides the period during which he will be away. A nominal fee is charged for each day of storage.
Renewal of instruction
Customers can renew the forwarding and renewal instructions online on payment of the renewal fee.
Query details of letters stored and forwarded
Customer can query details of letters that have been forwarded or stored in the post office. When the mail is put through the sorting machines at the post office, all mail which has special instructions will be moved to a separate sorting bin during the sorting process. The post office records the senderâ„¢s address (if available and legible) into the system. In case of a forwarding instruction, the new address label is generated and affixed to the letter. Such mail is put through the sorting process once again.
Payment for services
Customers need to make payment for the services being utilized. Payment can be made through credit card only. Forwarding, storage and renewal instructions will be activated only after the payment is received.
Terms and Conditions “ A Breif text on the website explaining terms and conditions . and printable copy of it.
Contact Information “ Contact information regarding the office addresses with phones and faxes are provided on this screen
In addition to this , we can have a help page link on each of the screens.
