Which it use 12 LEDs only. There are a interated running form. To begin with LED flash from the center to the edge on both sides. Then, to runs back to the center again. Like this indefinitely. Until the battery will fully lose or the switch opened circuit.
Simple 12 LED running using CD4017 and NE555
How it works
This circuit include a few parts. It may be divided into two section as follows:
1. the pulse signal generator
2. The counter
1. The pulse signal generator section include IC1-555,R1, VR1, C1 and C2. The output signal at pin 3 will be the square wave, that can be adjusted frequencies by VR1.
Then, send the signal to the input of IC2 that is the decade counter circuit. The IC2’s pin 14 will count the input signal continuously, and show at the output “1” on pin 3, 2, 4, 7, 10, 1, 5, 6, 9, 11 respectively.
The connecting LEDs to display in this circuit will see that is LED running two way from middel.
Parts you will need.
