A Wireless Sensor Network and Incident Command Interface for Urban Firefighting
The Fire Information and Rescue Equipment project has been implemented for designing a prototype wireless sensor
network which is suitable for Incident Command (IC) interface for urban
and industrial firefighting and emergency response.A fixed
WSN which is deployed in the building acts as the backbone for communication between mobile personnel and Incident
Command. The system uses a TinyOS operating system running on a Telos Sky mote 802.15.4 platform. This is used for various communication processes like the localization, environmental
monitoring, and redundant emergency communications. The features and performance of the system is analysed. The user experiences of various fire-fighters is also described here.
