An ad-hoc mobile network (MANET) is a self-configuring infrastructure minus mobile device network. Each should send traffic unrelated to its own use, and therefore be a router. AODV (Ad-hoc Distance Vector Vector) is a loop-free routing protocol for ad-hoc networks. It is designed to be self-starting in a mobile node environment, supporting a variety of network behaviors such as node mobility, link failures, and so on. The black hole attack is a type of denial of service attack in which a router is supposed to retransmit packets in its place drops them. In this article we study the effect of black hole attack on the AODV based network. Network parameters such as throughput, packet delivery ratio and average end-to-end delay are calculated for the normal network (no black hole) and one network with a black hole. After detecting the black hole attack to resume data transmission, the black hole node is overridden and the path to the genuine target is restarted again. The performance of the network parameters is compared in all three scenarios.
MANET stands for Mobile Ad Hoc Network. It is a robust infrastructure less wireless network. It can be formed by mobile nodes or by fixed and mobile nodes. The nodes are randomly connected to each other and form arbitrary topology. They can act as routers and as hosts. Its ability to self-configure makes this technology suitable for the provision of communication, for example, areas affected by disasters where there is no communication infrastructure or in an emergency search. In MANET, routing protocols are used for both static and dynamic topology. An ad hoc network is a wireless network that describes the inexistence of a centralized and fixed infrastructure. The absence of an infrastructure in ad hoc networks poses major challenges in the functionality of these networks. The mobile ad-hoc network is a collection of dynamic nodes, meaning that in MANET any node can enter the network at any time and join the network at any time. There is no effect if a node can automatically leave the network. We can say that it is a form of wireless network. Because it is ad-hoc it means that temporary nodes are stable in the network. In MANET there are no access points and infrastructure. There is no coordinator to coordinate the system. It is an autonomous and self-organized wireless communication network.
