University of Notre Dame 403(b) Retirement Plan: The University of Notre Dame 403(b) Retirement Plan is the University’s Universal Availability Plan in that it provides all employees the opportunity to save for retirement.
It is a defined contribution plan that allows employees to make voluntary pre-tax contributions for retirement savings.

Social Security/Medicare
Both the University and employees contribute an equal amount to Social Security and Medicare. These combined contributions help pay for your retirement, disability, survivor, and medical benefits. The University contributes 6.2% of your earnings (up to the Social Security maximum) each year toward Social Security and 1.45% to Medicare.
