What is an IGBT?
An IGBT, or insulated gate bipolar transistor, is a solid state device (with no moving parts). It is a switch that is used in order to allow power flow in the On state and to stop power flow when it is in the Off state. An IGBT works by applying voltage to a semiconductor component, therefore changing its properties to block or create an electrical path.
Types of IGBTs
There are many different kinds of IGBTs. At Future Electronics we stock many of the most common types categorized by Turn-on Delay Time, Turn-off Delay Time, Collector Current @ 25C, Collector Current @ 100C, Packaging Type and Maximum CE Voltage. The parametric filters on our website can help refine your search results depending on the required specifications.
The most common values for Maximum CE Voltage are 600 V and 1200 V. We also carry IGBTs with Maximum CE Voltage as high as 3300 V. Collector Current @ 100C can be between 3 A and 1200 A, with 20 A, 30 A and 40 A being the most common values.
IGBTs from Future Electronics
Future Electronics has a full insulated gate bipolar transistor selection from several manufacturers when looking for an IGBT inverter, high voltage IGBT, IGBT gate driver or high power IGBT for your electronic circuits or circuit applications. Simply choose from the IGBT technical attributes below and your search results will quickly be narrowed in order to match your specific IGBT application needs.
If you have a preferred brand, we deal with several manufacturers such as Fairchild, International Rectifier, IXYS and STMicroelectronics, among other manufacturers. You can easily refine your IGBT product search results by clicking your preferred IGBT brand below from our list of manufacturers.
Applications for IGBTs:
IGBTs are used in high power applications such as:
Appliance motor drives
Electric vehicle motor drives
Power factor correction converters
Uninterruptible power supplies
Solar inverters
High frequency welders
Inductive heating cookers
Choosing the Right IGBT:
When you are looking for the right IGBTs, with the FutureElectronics.com parametric search, you can filter the results by various attributes: by Maximum CE Voltage (1.8 V, 600 V, 1200 V,…), Collector Current @ 100C (3 A, 30 A, 40 A,…) and Turn-on Delay Time (between 6 ns and 125 µs) to name a few. You will be able to find the right high voltage IGBT, IGBT inverter, IGBT gate driver or high power IGBT for your electronic circuits or insulated gate bipolar transistor circuit applications.
IGBTs in Production Ready Packaging or R&D Quantities
If the quantity of IGBTs that you require is less than a full reel, we offer customers many of our IGBT products in tube or other quantities that will help you avoid unneeded surplus.
In addition, Future Electronics offers clients a unique bonded inventory program that is designed to eliminate potential problems that could arise from an unpredictable supply of products containing raw metals and products with long or erratic lead times. Talk with your nearest Future Electronics branch and find out more on how you can avoid possible shortages.
