ABSTRACT!!!!
As the latest iteration of USB technology, wireless USB (WUSB) will offer the same functionality as standard wired USB devices but without the cabling. Wireless USB is a new wireless extension to USB intended to combine the speed and security of wired technology with the ease-of-use of wireless technology.
WUSB is based on Ultra Wideband Ultra-wideband (also UWB, and ultra-wide-band, ultra-wide band, etc.) usually refers to a radio communications technique based on transmitting very-short-duration pulses, often of duration of only nanoseconds or less, whereby the occupied bandwidth goes to very large values. Ultra-wide-band may also be used to refer to anything with a very large bandwidth. WUSB offers bandwidths of 480 Mbp/s at three meters, and 110 Mbp/s at 10 meters. It uses topology of one host with several devices. One WUSB cluster can connect up to 127 devices. WUSB also supports so-called dual-role devices, which in addition to being a WUSB device, can function as a host with limited capabilities. WUSB will be used in devices that are now connected via regular USB cables, such as controllers, printers, scanners, digital cameras, MP3 players, hard disks and flash drives, but it is also suitable for transferring parallel video streams.
As the new Wireless USB Promoter Group prepares to develop the specifications that will help standardize the technology, the industry is planning products that can take advantage of the convenience and mobility that this new device interconnect will offer. In May 2005, the Wireless USB Promoter Group announced the completion of the Wireless USB specification.
The Universal Serial Bus (USB), with one billion units in the installed base, is the most successful interface in PC history. Projections are for 3.5 billion interfaces shipped by 2006.Benefiting from exceptionally strong industry support from all market segments, USB continues to evolve as new technologies and products come to market. It is already the de facto interconnect for PCs, and has proliferated into consumer electronics (CE) and mobile devices as well. USB enjoys strong brand recognition, has a well-recognized logo, and is supported by an experienced governing body“the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF).

Wireless USB will build on the success of wired USB, bringing USB technology into the wireless future. Usage will be targeted at PCs and PC peripherals, consumer electronics and mobile devices. To maintain the same usage and architecture as wired USB, the Wireless USB specification is being defined as a high-speed host-to device connection. This will enable an easy migration path for todayâ„¢s wired USB solutions

Imagine if all the devices in a home office -- such as printer, scanner, external hard drive, and digital camera -- could be connected to your PC without any wires. Imagine if all the components for an entire home entertainment center could be set up and connected without a single wire. Imagine if digital pictures could be transferred to a photo print kiosk for instant printing without the need for a cable. These are just some of the possible scenarios for high-speed wireless USB (WUSB) connectivity, the latest technology developed to bring even greater convenience and mobility to devices

On February 17, 2004, at the Intel® Developer Forum, Intel Corporation and other technology industry leaders announced the formation of the Wireless USB Promoter Group. Focused on delivering the first high-speed personal Wireless interconnects, the group includes Agere Systems, HP, Intel, Microsoft Corporation, NEC, Philips Semiconductors, and Samsung Electronics.
