Wireless Id card used to Control the Sliding Gate
AIM
The use of this system is to control the sliding gate through active RF ID card; thereby only authorized persons are allowed to pass through this gate.
INTRODUCTION
The project work described in the abstract comes under the subject of electrical gate, motorized gates that moves horizontally are called sliding gates usually situated at the main entrance to a building compound or garage.
MAJOR COMPONENTS
DC MOTOR WITH REDUCTION GEAR MECHANISM
RF TRANSMITTER & RECIVER
INFRARED SENSOR
SLIDING CHANNEL
STEEL FRAME FOR GATE
RACK & PINION MECHANISM
BATTERY FOR ID CARD
TRANSFORMER FOR POWER SUPPLY
RELAY ARRANGEMENT
ALARM ARRANGEMENT
MICROCONTROLLER CIRCUIT
WORKING OPERATION
The user must enter his code through his RF ID card, then the user identity is decoded in the receiver.
If it is correct then the gate will be opened otherwise alarm will be raised.
The gate control mechanism is designed with DC motor with reduction gear mechanism.
Control circuits are designed with two PIC Microcontrollers.
The RF communication system operates at 433 MHz is used in the system, since the output of RF transmitter is not amplified.
The range is restricted for less than 50 foot. The sliding gate mechanism is designed with MS sheets.
Authorized person- who have a valid ID pass code to operation
Id card- wireless media in which a valid pass code should must be enter.
Sliding gate- Entry point of any department which is controlled by above things.

ADVANTAGES
Only authorized persons can operate this gate.
It provides mobility to control.
No need of any security guard.
Low power consumption.
Very low maintenance.
Low capital cost & installation cost.
LIMITATION
It can not be operated without electric power.
APPLICATIONS
Useful for high level security purposes at:
i. Defense
ii. Research centers
iii. Industries
iv. Storage House
v. Laboratories, etc.
COST ESTIMATION
DC motor- Rs. 500/-
Relays- Rs. 200/-
Microcontroller (89c51)- Rs.2000/-
Buzzer- Rs. 100/-
RF transmitter & receiver- Rs. 1100/-
Sliding channel & metal frame- Rs. 1000/-
Rack & pinion gear mechanism- Rs. 800/-
Battery- Rs. 100/-
Transformer- Rs. 200/-
External appliances- Rs.2000/-
TOTAL-------------------------------------------Rs.8000/-
CONCLUSION
From this project we came to the conclusion that the sliding gate operated with id card has become versatile in nature.
It replaces the man effort with mechanical actuator.
Since the capital cost & the installation cost is not so higher so it is going to help a lot in coming days for high level security purposes.
