WDDX
WDDX (Web Distributed Data eXchange) is a programming-language-, platform- and transport-neutral data interchange mechanism to pass data between different environments and different computers. number, string, boolean, etc are the simple data types supported by it. Also the user defined types such as the structures, arrays and recordsets are also supported.Popular platforms like the ColdFusion, Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, C++, .NET, and many others support WDDX interfaces. WDDX is a pragmatic solution to an important problem faced by developers today.

Understanding the Challenge
The web technologies and the efforts to extend them to building the distributed application framework is essentially disjoint.
But client-server follows a fundamentally different model of distributed computing based on using Remote Procedure Calls (RPC). The RPC-based approaches provide control for developers for all the states of communication management. But this approach is intensive on the development time and resources. As a solution to all these,a mechanism for exchanging structured data in a generic, cross-platform and Web-friendly way is what is aimed by WDDX
