The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, also known as UTC, is the State Bus Service of Uttarakhand State in India. UTC with its 1419 buses serves routes to towns and cities within Uttarakhand and adjacent states of Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir covering over 350,000 kilometers to meet the needs of more of 100,000 people every day. It also offers a facility for online booking of tickets.
Following the bifurcation of Uttar Pradesh in 2000, the newly created state of Uttarakhand felt the need for its own state transport agency, so Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) was incorporated on 30 October 2003 under the provisions of Road Transportation Act of 1950.
UTC has its corporate office in Dehradun, and three divisional offices in Dehradun, Nainital and Tanakpur. Each division has a regional workshop where important repair and maintenance work is carried out, as well as the work of reconditioning the whole. Each region has been divided into operational units called deposits. The total number of deposits in the corporation is 18, each deposit has a workshop attached to it to provide support maintenance facilities. UTC also owns a tire retreading plant in Dehradun to provide internal tire retreading facilities.
