Electronic stick for Blind
The project aims at designing an electronic walking stick for the blind. The features of the walking stick include:
-Obstacles detecting using IR proximity detectors
-Wireless design using RF link.
-Audio playback on detection of obstacles
-to use of microcontroller, hence compact
-low cost
-low power consumption
The The AT89C51 microcontroller is used in this project . It is a CMOS 8-bit microcontroller with 8K bytes of in-system programmable Flash memory. The high density non-volatile technology is used in the design of this microcontroller. This comes with the 80C51 instruction set which is an industry-standard.
The signal from decoder is read by the microcontroller and the audio playback unit is activated accordingly. when the obstacles is detected, the Audio playback unit, play the pre-stored audio . The data from microcontroller is sent to the microcontroller which then then encodes it with the locally configured address which is then sent to the RF transmitter in a serial mode.
