India, a fast-growing economy, with more than 1 billion people, confronted with the huge energy needs. the country is fifth in the world for the production and consumption of electricity. electricity production has increased over the years, but we cannot deny the fact that the population is also increasing. Generated from mostly coal (53%) of and, as predicted, the country's coal reserves will not last beyond 2040-50. More than 72% of the population living in rural areas and half of villages without electricity. The time has come when we should focus on energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy. To meet this growing demand, solar energy is the best form of energy to meet the energy needs of India and reduce energy demand and supply.
Solar power in India
India has huge potential to generate solar energy. the geographical location of the country is in their interests to generate solar energy. the reason that India is a tropical country and receives solar radiation almost throughout the year, that is 3000 hours of sunshine. That amounts to more than 5000 billion kWh. Almost all parts of India are 4-7 kW of solar radiation per sq m Is equivalent to 2.300 -3.200 hours of sunshine a year. States such as Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal, have great potential for tapping solar energy because of their location. Since the majority of the population lives in rural areas, there are many opportunities for solar energy progress in these areas. The use of solar energy can reduce the use of firewood and dung cakes in the rural family.
Advantages of solar energy in India
Some of the benefits of using solar energy, which makes it even more appropriate for India, as follows:
It is an inexhaustible source of energy and the best replacement for other non-renewable sources of energy in India.
Solar energy is environmentally friendly. When in use, this does not release CO2 and other gases that pollute the air. So it is very suitable for India, India is one of the most polluted countries in the world.
Solar energy can be used for various purposes such as heating, drying, cooking, no electricity, which is suitable for rural areas in India. It can also be used in cars, airplanes, large motor boats, satellites, calculators and many other subjects are just apt for the urban population.
Solar energy is inexhaustible. In most energy deficient countries like India, where electricity is expensive, solar energy is the best an alternative means to generate electricity.
You do not need power or gas network to get solar energy solar energy system can be installed anywhere. Solar panels can be easily placed in homes. Therefore, it is very inexpensive compared to other energy sources.
Disadvantages of solar power in India
We cannot generate energy at night with solar energy.
And also during the day, the weather can be cloudy and rainy weather with little or no sunlight. Thus, this makes solar panels are less reliable as a solution.
Only those areas that receive good amount of sunlight are suitable for solar energy.
The solar panels also require inverters and batteries to convert electricity to direct AC power to generate electricity. Installing solar panels is quite cheap, the installation of other equipment is expensive.
You must install solar plant with solar panel area is large enough, and that the land area remains engaged for many years in General and may not be used for other purposes.
Energy production is quite low compared with other forms of energy.
Solar panels require serious maintenance because they are fragile and can be damaged easily. So the additional costs incurred in additional insurance costs.
Solar power in India: the Future
In solar energy, many large projects have been proposed in India.
Thar desert has some of the best solar energy projects in India is estimated to generate from 700 to 2100 Gwh.
March 1, 2014 onwards, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, inaugurated in Diken in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh, India's largest solar power plant.
