CAM VISE
SYNOPSIS
Vise has advantage of higher clamping force, quick clamping, simple construction and low cost.
In our project we focus fast clamping, simple construction, low cost and less clamping force.
In conventional method vises used like Hydraulic vise, Lead screw type machine vise and pneumatic vise. We plan to build vise in new direction.
We use Cam for clamping operation. It is fast, simple construction and low cost.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Cam vise consists of two cam, journal bearing, guide bushes, shaft, hand lever, adjustable plate, adjustable bolts, nut and bolts and fabrication setup. All items are fitted as per the working drawing. Adjustable plate is used for varying clamping area as per the work piece, Two nuts are fixed end of the adjustable bolt. Two cam is fitted on the shaft, in-between the cam, A guide giving space between the cam. Another two guide are placed between Journal bearing and cam. Entire setup fixed on the frame by journal bearings. A hand lever fitted on one end of the shaft, A expands type steel spring fitted in the middle of the guide bush. It gives tension to the cam at the tightening position. Hand lever used to open and close the cam freely. Work piece place in between cam and adjustable plate, the adjustable is adjusted as per the work piece width size. Cam is closed by hand lever, now the work piece is fixed in between fixed cam and adjustable plate. This cam vise easy operates one with light clamping force.
