1. How do you reverse the bias of a photodiode?

Reverse polarization of a photodiode is achieved by establishing the cathode of the detector at an electrical potential higher than that of the anodes. In other words, applying a negative voltage to the anode.
2. What does photodiode mean? Does the dark current change over time?

The dark surface current component may change over time due to ambient humidity. It is also sensitive to surface cleaning, surface contamination, that is, the sodium of the hand fat could increase the dark current significantly. Dark bulk current should not increase over time.
3. What is the output signal of a photodiode?

The photodiode functions as a voltage source as well as a current source in response to incident light in the wavelength range of 200 nm to 1100 nm. The current measurement is preferred since the output current changes linearly with the incident light power. The voltage output, however, changes logarithmically with the incident light power.
4. What is the difference between Photoconductive (PC) and photovoltaic (PV) modes?

In photovoltaic mode, the photodiode is neither powered nor polarized. It simply acts as a soolar call, which converts light into electricity. In photoconductive mode, however, the photodiode can be inverted polarized by voltages up to the specified maximum inverse voltage.
5. What happens if the photodiode is polarized with a voltage greater than the maximum permissible inversion?

A device may experience reverse bias decomposition if it is biased over the maximum value we specify, a high current will flow through the device that could lead to the destruction of the photodiode. We do not recommend that you use this device in this manner.
6. Is there a specific type of power source used to polarize the photodiode?

A stable DC voltage source is all that is required to reverse polarization of a photodiode. Current supply requirements are minimal, as the device produces its own current.
7. How much reverse bias should I apply?

Apply a high enough bias only to get the bandwidth, but low enough to avoid the risk of reaching the reverse burst voltage. Increasing the reverse voltage increases the response speed of the photodiode, reducing the bonding capacitance.
