Is it mandatory to go to a DRC after registering?

Going to a DRC is not mandatory. It is an opportunity for applicants to meet face-to-face with disaster recovery experts and obtain personal guidance on disaster-related needs. Applicants are encouraged to contact FEMA through the toll-free registration / attendance line, or visit the DRC as necessary to obtain answers to the questions during the application process.

Who should go to the DRC?

• All those who have requested recovery assistance using the FEMA toll-free registration number and have questions or concerns about their applications. (Applicants can also call the FEMA toll-free number to get answers to their questions).

• If phone service is not available in your area, phones will be available at the DRC and FEMA representatives will be available to assist you with the application process.

• The FEMA toll-free registration / assistance line is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY), for people who are hearing or speech impaired. Registration lines are available seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (EDT and CDT).

• Registration is required to receive assistance.

What happens in a DRC?

• Representatives of FEMA, the Small Business Administration (SBA) and other agencies will be there to answer questions and discuss the concerns of the applicants.

or FEMA will have people on hand to speak with applicants about the status of their application and to explain practical steps to reduce future losses as the recovery begins.

o There will also be FEMA representatives who will give information on how to rebuild stronger to protect against future damage from the storm.

o Information about the importance and how to buy flood insurance.

o SBA representatives will answer questions about various low interest loan programs for homeowners, renters and businesses.

o The Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board (KCCRB) will provide local telephone numbers for crisis advisors, as well as informational flyers explaining the symptoms of post-disaster stress.

Should I bring any information with me when I go to the Democratic Republic of the Congo?

Applicants must bring their tracking number of the application, the address of the damaged property, insurance information, a current contact phone number and identification with them to the recovery centers.
