Vastu shastra (vāstu śāstra) is a traditional system of Hindu architecture that literally translates into "science of architecture," texts found in the Indian subcontinent that describe the principles of design, layout, measurements, Space and spatial geometry. The Shastras incorporate traditional Hindu and in some cases Buddhist beliefs. Designs are intended to integrate architecture with nature, the relative functions of various parts of the structure and ancient beliefs using geometric patterns (yantra), symmetry, and directional alignments.
"VASTU SHASTRA" is a voluminous and scattered ancient indigenous literature dealing with knowledge of architecture, iconography and art in relation to structures and buildings. Vastu means proper place to live in. Must be habitable. Life requires basic elements, ie air, fire (light), water, earth and space. The house in which you live must provide the benefit of these elements. This means that it is well connected with the environment and ecology.
