The touch dimmer is built around 8-pin CMOS IC TT8486A / TT6061A specifically manufactured for touch dimmer applications.
Initially, when the mains switch is on, the bulb is off. Now, if you touch the touch plate, the bulb glows weakly. On the second touch, the light bulb gives light. On the third touch, the bulb is driven completely. Another touch turns off the light. Since the IC is highly sensitive, use a long cable to connect the IC to the touch sensor. The circuit uses minimal external components. For the touch plate, you can use a simple copper plate of 1 cm × 1 cm or even the end of the cable. The touch plate is coupled to the touch detector via 820pF, 2kV capacitors C1, C2 and C3 connected in series. Internally the TT6061A'stouch signal is connected to the counter / decoder via a resistor and the clock input CK is connected to the counter / decoder via a frequency generator.

The line frequency signal is taken through R4 on pin 2 of IC TT6061A. At the zero crossing, the triac (BT136) is activated to operate a 200W light bulb. The 6.8 V power supply is taken directly from the network via the resistors R1 and R3, the diode D3, the capacitor C4 and the zener diode and is fed to the power input pin 3 of the IC. The capacitors C1, C2 and C3 connected between the touch input pin 4 and the touch plate eliminate the shock potential of the touch plate, so do not replace these capacitors with a single capacitor or a capacitor of a lower voltage. There is network potential in the circuit. Needless to say, it is dangerous to touch the circuit when the mains is on.
