TRANSFORMER PROTECTION WITH SMS ALERT
ABSTRACT
The system employs a microcontroller to collect all transformer parameters like voltage, temperature, oil level etc. are and are then analyzed in the microcontroller. During analysis it observes for any abnormalities in measured values and if abnormalities occur it disconnects the load to protect the transformer and load devices.
GSM (Global System for Mobile communications: originally from Group Special Mobile) is the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world. Its promoter, the GSM Association, estimates that 80% of the global mobile market uses the standard. Its ubiquity makes international roaming very common between mobile phone operators, enabling subscribers to use their phones in many parts of the world.
Possible abnormalities are over voltage, temperatures rise and low oil level. Continuous measurement of these values ensures reliable protection. All measured values are displayed in an LCD display provided with the system. The system is attached with GSM modem to give SMS alert to the concerned person to pass information about abnormalities. This is done automatically when abnormal parameter value is observed. If anyone want to know about the current status of the system that is also possible by simply sending an SMS to the system. The system replies by an SMS which contains the current measured parameter values.
