Datagram delivery and routing service to higher layer protocols are the functions of DDP. DDP frame headers can use Short format headers which carry only the source and destination service socket numbers, or the long format DDP headers also carry the source and destination network and node addresses needed for routing capability. AppleTalk Phase 2 supports only the long format DDP header for Phas as it does not use LLAP to identify source and destination nodes.
