Haryana Roadways State Transport (HR) is the public transport unit of the Haryana Government in India. Haryana Roadways is an important part of the Haryana transportation department. It is the main provider of services for the transport of passengers in the state. The constant quality and punctuality of the service provider have earned a name in all neighboring states and have become the first choice of passengers.

In 1966, when Haryana was sculpted in Punjab, the need arose for a separate transport unit to effectively connect each part of the state with other parts. Therefore, in 1966 HRTL was established with two Regional Transport Authorities. On December 1, 1987, three RTAs were named in Ambala, Hisar and Faridabad. On January 16, 1991, three more ACRs were created in Rohtak, Karnal and Rewari. Now each district headquarters has the Regional Transportation Office (RTO) headed by the Regional Secretary of Transportation and vehicle registration and driver's licenses can be obtained at each district headquarters (RTA office) and Tehsil headquarters ( generally SDO Civil, official Civil subdivision).

The Office of the Director General of State Transport is responsible for providing well coordinated, economical, safe and efficient transport action services to the State public. Haryana Roadways, a state government company, is the leading provider of passenger transportation services in the state. Over the years, Haryana Roadways has earned a name for the variety and quality of the services it provides. In tune with the emerging requirements of the traveling public, Haryana Roadways has embarked on a series of new initiatives to provide better services to its customers. The new Volvo AC 'Saarthi' bus services have been introduced on the Chandigarh-Delhi-Gurgaon, Chandigarh-Delhi-Faridabad routes. Some of the trips also affect the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) and the Delhi National Airport. Ten of those buses are already in operation.

Bus 'Haryana Gaurav' with luxury facilities at ordinary fare A new bus service 'Haryana Gaurav', popularly known as 'Aam Adami Ki Khas Bus', has been introduced, offering the latest facilities such as deluxe seats type 2x2, FM radio , mobile charger, Pneumatically operated door, tinted glass and curtains, etc. at normal bus fare. This bus would eventually become the main stay of Haryana Roadways for its various operations. About 200 buses are already in operation on different routes. The CNG bus services 'Haryana Uday' have been launched in the National Capital Region of Delhi. 300 buses are already in operation on different routes within the state NCR.
