Milk Plant Chandigarh was established in 1962 by the Government of Punjab to provide hygienically prepared milk and dairy products to the people of Chandigarh. Later, this milk project was taken over by former development cooperation of Punjab Daily ltd. (PDDC) and, in addition, in 1979, the milk supply activity was moved from this plant to the Mohali dairy plant.
Subsequently with the merger of PDDC with the state of Punjab co-op. Producers of milk fed. Ltd on April 15, 1983, this unit became one of the units of Milkfed, Punjab. Initially Dhara Oil custom packaging for the NDDB was started in 1990. By the end of this year, Aseptic Packaging Station was established by installing a Stork 4,000 LPH Ultra High Temperature (UHT) Processing Plant. Two Tetra Pak machines were installed for 200 ml and 1000 ml respectively for the packaging of products based on UHT. Subsequently In 1991, the packaging of Sweet Lassi and SFM was introduced in Tetra Pak.
Apart from this, ice cream production was started at this plant with a substantially improved capacity to capture the ice cream market in the Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula tricity. Ice cream is available in many variants in cup, cone, brick, ice candy and bulk package. In 1997, the packaging of Mango Raseela & Milk began in Tetrapak. Dairy Plant Chandigarh was the first plant to obtain composite certificate under ISO: 9002 and ISO: 15000 in 1997.
At present the unit is involved in the production of Tetra Pak products (milk, fermented milk and fruit drink) in containers of 200 ml and 1000 ml, different varieties of ice cream and indigenous sweets such as milk cake, Kaju Pinni and sugar Without sugar Peda &. The products of other sister plants such as Ghee, table butter, processed cheese and fresh produce such as paneer, kheer, curd etc are also marketed by this plant.
As of date, Chandigarh Dairy is supplying Verka milk, fresh milk products and other bottled tea tetrapack products to the following reputed institutions in the Chandigarh and Tricity area ie Kala Gram Baithak, Subcommittee Office, Complex From the sports sectors 7, 16, 18, 23, 42, 46, Lake Club, MLA Hostel, Punjab Bhawan, BSF units, Snehalaya, PGIMER, Umeed Society, UT Cantina (CITCO) and Chief Office of Architects . Apart from these, Verka is a reliable product supplier in many other reputed institutions in the HoReCa sector in Chandigarh.
