Applications of the Flywheels:
Flywheels can be used to store energy and be used to produce pulses of very high electrical energy for experiments, where extracting power from the utility grid would produce unacceptable peaks. A small engine can accelerate the steering wheel between the pulses.
The phenomenon of precession has to be considered when using flyers in moving vehicles. However, in a modern application, a thrust wheel is a type of flywheel useful in satellite signaling operations, in which flywheels are used to point the satellite instruments in the correct directions without the use of thruster rockets.
