Watermarking and Steganography are processes in which the digital image is changed in such a way that you can see the background image or text without any corruption in the image.
Steganography applications hide information in other seemingly innocent media. Steganographic results can be masked as other files for data types, hidden within various media, or even hidden in network traffic or disk space. We are only limited by our imagination in the many ways in which information and data can be exploited to conceal additional information.
For many years the hidden information has captured the imagination of the researchers. Digital watermarking techniques and staganography are used to address digital rights management, protect information and hide secrets. Information concealment techniques provide an interesting challenge for digital forensic investigations. Information can easily traverse firewalls without being detected. Research into steganalysis techniques helps in the discovery of such hidden information as well as conducts research towards improved methods to conceal the information.
Related research topics include: anonymous communications, anonymous online transactions, secret channels in computer systems, covert / subliminal communications, hidden information detection, digital forensics, information hiding privacy aspects, steganography, subliminal channels in protocols Cryptographic, protection of intellectual property and other applications.
Steganography is changing the image so that only the sender and the intended recipient can detect the message sent through it. It is invisible, and therefore detection is not easy. It is a better way to send secret messages than encrypted messages or cryptography as it does not attract attention to itself.
There are many ways in which steganography is done. Messages appear as articles, pictures, lists or sometimes invisible ink is used to write between lines. Steganography is achieved by hiding the information in computer files. Sometimes the steganographic codes are inside the transport layer as an image file, document file, media files, etc. Due to the large size of media files, they are considered ideal for steganography.
