INTRODUCTION
 Nanorobotics is the technology of creating machines or robots at or close to the microscopic scale of a nanometer.
 It is a new approach within advanced graphics simulations which is presented for the problem of nano-assembly automation and its application for medicine
 Nanorobots are also called as NANOBOTS, NANITES, NANOIDS and NANOMITES.
 A new and emerging technology performed using Robots.
 Surgical robot: Powered computer controlled manipulator with artificial sensing
 Three major advances.
1. Remote surgery
2. Minimally invasive surgery
3. Unmanned surgery
 Robotic surgical procedures.
Computer- assisted surgery and Robot-assisted surgery.
 Institute of robotics is a part of ETH emerged in 1990 and is led by prof. Dr. GERHARD SCHWEITZER
TYPES OF ROBOTIC SURGERY SYSTEMS
1. Supervisor controlled surgical systems
2.Shared control robotic surgery systems
3. Tele surgical systems
• The Da Vinci Surgical System
• Zeus Robotic Surgical System
• AESOP Robotic Surgical System
• Hermes system
4. Robotic Radio Surgery Systems
The Da Vinci Robot
In this system there are essentially 3 main components
1. A Surgeon’s console
2. A Patient side Robotic cart
3. A High Definition 3D vision system
WORKING
 Surgeries are performed by robot arms with the aid of a tiny video camera.
 Three pencil-sized ports are used.
1. Port for a tiny high-powered camera or endoscope.
2.Port for 1st robotic arm
3.Port for 2nd robotic arm
 The physician's role : To maneuver the camera through voice-operated controls and to manipulate the surgical equipment using a hand held joystick.
 Thus the only surgical cut that a physician directly performs is the initial puncture of the chest.
Three main considerations for Nanorobots movement through the body
1. Navigation
2. Power
3. Locomotion.

There are two types of navigation systems
1. External navigation systems
2. Internal navigation systems
