INTRODUCTION
 We do a project “SOLAR ENERGY CART”
which can solve problems of fuel unavailability.
 Electric vehicle powered by solar energy not produced commercially because of power reliability and high production costs
Origin
 Greg Johanson and Joel Davidson set for a 100% solar powered car. In 1984 the solar electric vehicle was retired and taken apart, but the solar array is still producing electricity for an off-grid home.
 Solar array-Having hundreds of photovoltaic solar cells converting sunlight to electricity
 When sunlight (photons) strike PV cells, they excite electrons and allow them to flow, creating an electrical current. PV cells are made of semiconductor materials such as silicon and alloys of indium, gallium and nitrogen. Silicon is the most common material used and has an efficiency rate of 15-20%.These electric charges are stored in the battery to run the vehicle
SOLAR ENERGY VEHICLES
ADVANTAGES OF SOLAR ENERGY

 Saves Money
 Environmental friendly
 Independent
 No maintenance required
DISADVANTAGES OF SOLAR ENERGY
 Requires large area of installation for achieving high efficiency
 Efficiency of the system relies on the location of the sun
 Production of solar energy is influenced by presence of clouds or pollution in air
 High initial cost
 working model of solar energy vehicle
1 It do not need high maintenance
2 With the help of solar energy , wind energy and electricity we can run the vehicle.
3 we analysed how productive the solar energy cart would be in future
OUR PROJECT DETAILS
COMPONENTS REQUIRED

 Frame-3 wheeler
 Solar panel
 Motor
 Steering
 Charging system
 Battery
SOLAR PANEL
 A solar panel is a device that collects photons of sunlight, which are very small packets of electromagnetic radiation energy, and converts them into electrical current that can be used to power electrical loads.
WORKING OF SOLAR PANEL
MOTOR
HUB MOTOR

 High flexibility
 Compact size, can support high loads
 Hub motors negate the need for a heavy transmission, driveline, differential, and axles.
 Hub motors generate high torque at low rpm, helps to improve efficiency.
 Hub motors can be used as breaks by acting as a generator rather than motor.
DC MOTOR
 Requires high maintenance
 Have a low life span
 Cannot support high loads
So usually hub motors are preferred over DC motors
FABRICATION
 Chassis
Mild steel pipe of 1.5inch diameter
Thickness of 4 to 5mm
 Steering
M-800 Rack and pinion steering gear box Battery
 Battery pack each of 12V
 Are connected in series as shown
 four batteries in series comprise to total of 48V and power 75W
 Accelaration can be done by adjusting rheostat
COMMERCIAL CHANCES
 The Future of Solar Electric Vehicles looks bright. With the increase in fuel prices we are approaching cost effectiveness at rs 154 per gallon(3.8litres). With the rise of the Hybrid vehicles it looks like a great chance for additional energy inputs such as solar energy. It may not be only source of energy but today it can be 10-20%, tomorrow 20-40% and as oil and fuels become harder to recover and more costly .
