Balika Samridhi Yojana (BSY)
*Prime Minister - I.K. Gujral 
*During - 9th Five Year Plan 
*Date /Year - 15th August 1997 
*Fund : 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme
*The coverage area of Balika Samridhi Yojana is bpth rural and urban areas of all districts in India.
*The girl children under BSY are entitled to  post birth grant of 
Ans : Rs. 500
*The BSY scheme is being implemented through ICDS infrastructure in rural areas and through 
functionaries of Health Department in Urban areas. 
*Part of the money given to the girl child at birth or in scholarships can be put aside for paying the premium 
on an insurance policy in the name of the girl child under the Bhagya Shri Balika Kalyan Bima Yojana.

Eligibility Criteria
*The girl child who belong to BPL eligible for Balika Samridhi Yojana
*Benefits are limited to 2 girl children in each household born on or after 15/8/1997 (irrespective of the total 
number of children in the household)
*When these children starts attending the school, she will become entitled to annual scholarship after successfully completed year of schooling.
*The rate of annual scholarship is as follows
I -III - Rs. 300 per annum for each class
IV- Rs. 500 per annum'
V- Rs. 600 per annum
VI-VII - Rs. 700 per annum for each class.
VIII- Rs. 500 per annum
IX - X - Rs. 1000 per annum for each class

Objectives
*To change negative, family and Community attitudes towards girl  children?
*To improve enrollment and retention of girl children in schools
*To raise the age at marriage of girls.
*To assist the girl to undertake income generating activities.
