This project investigates a cost effective solution that will provide controlling of home appliances remotely and will also enable home security against intrusion in the absence of
home owner.a system that allows user to control home appliances and also provide security on detection of intrusion via SMS using GSM technology.

Home Appliance Control System (HACS)
This system enables the user to control home appliances remotely and the security alert subsystem provides the remote security monitoring. The system is also capable of instructing user via SMS from a specific cell number to change the condition of the home appliance according to the userâ„¢s wish. It also provides security against intrusion bby generating an alert sms to the owner.It has the following components:
1.PC:
which runs the software for the HACS system.
2.GSM Modem:
It provides the capability to send and receive SMS to and from the system. The communication with the PC takes place through the RS232 serial port. A mobile phone can replace the GSM modem but it limits the capabilities.
3.Mobile Device:
Mobile phone containing SIM card of the specific number through which communication
takes place.Mobile user transmits SMS using GSM technology. The device communicates with the GSM Modem through radio frequency signals.

Working
The PC runs the appliance control software and the subsystem for security intrusion detection. GSM modem enables the sending and recieving of SMS. it connects to the PC through the RS232 port. Cell phone has a SIM card with a specific cell phone number which is configured on the system,and a GSM subscription. User transmits instructions via SMS and the system takes action against those instructions.
