Sensor
As the term suggests, it is a body that reacts to a physical, chemical or biological condition. Feel it. It can be considered as a detector. It is defined as an element that produces a signal relative to the quantity being measured. According to the Instruments Society of America, the sensor can be defined as "A device that provides a usable output in response to a specified measurand." Here the output is usually an "electric quantity" and the measurand is a "physical quantity, property Or state to be measured ". Thus, in the case of, for example, a variable inductance displacement element, the amount being measured is the displacement and the sensor transforms a displacement input into an inductance change.
Transducer
The conversion of energy from one form to another is known as transduction. A transducer serves this purpose. It is defined as an element when subjected to some physical change undergoing a related change or an element that converts a specified measurand into a usable output using a transduction principle.
It can also be defined as a device that converts a signal from one form of energy to another.
A Constantan alloy wire (copper-nickel 55-45% alloy) can be called as a sensor because the variation in mechanical displacement (tension or compression) can be perceived as a change in electrical resistance. This wire becomes a transducer with the appropriate electrodes and the I / O mechanism attached to it. Thus we can say that 'the sensors are transducers'.
