The graduate program in parasitology aims to provide students with the skills to undertake research and teaching in protozoology, helminthology and entomology fields that are of interest both in the context of humans and animals  so as to favor the development of their scientific abilities and encourage them to develop a critical, ethical and multidisciplinary approach in tune with the field of parasitology today. An interdisciplinary approach to the understanding of host-parasite interactions has been adopted in the vast majority of dissertation or thesis projects undertaken as part of the graduate program, whether they involve the study of structural and molecular biology; epidemiology; the immune response; chemotherapy using traditional medicines or nanotechnology; the production of live or recombinant vaccines; the standardization of diagnostic methods; or even biodiversity studies. New analytical tools such as image-capture technologies, bioinformatics, molecular techniques and mathematical or statistical modeling are increasingly being used in research projects in the program.
