hi shailendra here...i would like to get details on seminar report on smart city..i m studying BE in civil engineering...and i m in last sem..so doing individual seminar on this topic

A smart city is a vision of urban development to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) and Internet of Things (IoT) in a safe way to manage the assets of a city. These assets include the information systems of local departments, schools, libraries, transport systems, hospitals, power plants, water supply networks, waste management, law enforcement and other services The Community. It promotes a smart city to use computing and urban technology to improve the efficiency of services. ICTs allow city officials to interact directly with the community and infrastructure of the city and monitor what is happening in the city, how the city is evolving and how to enable a better quality of life. By using integrated sensors with real-time monitoring systems, data are collected from citizens and devices - then processed and analyzed. The information and knowledge gathered are key to tackling inefficiency.

Information and communications technology (ICT) is used to improve the quality, performance and interactivity of urban services, reduce costs and consumption of resources and improve contacts between citizens and government. Intelligent urban applications are developed to manage urban flows and enable real-time responses. Therefore, a smart city may be more prepared to respond to the challenges than one with a simple "transactional" relationship with its citizens. However, the term itself remains unclear to its specificities and therefore open to many interpretations.

Terminology

Due to the breadth of technologies that have been implemented under the label of the smart city, it is difficult to distill a precise definition of a smart city. Deakin and Al Wear list four factors that contribute to the definition of a smart city:

1. The application of a wide range of electronic and digital technologies to communities and cities

2. The use of ICTs to transform life and work environments within the region

3. The incorporation of such information and communication technologies (ICTs) into government systems

4. The territorialization of practices that unite ICT and people to promote the innovation and knowledge they offer.

Deakin defines the smart city as a city that uses ICT to meet the demands of the market (city citizens), and that community participation in the process is necessary for a smart city. A smart city would therefore be a city that not only has ICT technology in particular areas, but also has implemented this technology in a way that positively affects the local community.
