The startup has developed $ 99 eye tracking device development kits for computers, and software that can bring eye-based interfaces to smartphones and virtual reality headsets. The Eye Tribe has also developed a foveated rendering technology, which allows virtual reality systems to save computational energy by generating perfect graphics in the place you are looking for. Basically, it creates a focal point that moves with the eyes. This could allow Oculus' upcoming "Santa Cruz" independent wireless headsets to display more complex scenes at higher frame rates despite the fact that their mobile form factor limits their playback power.
Eye-tracking technology on Android devices is nothing new, but the Danish startup The Eye Tribe now seeks to expand its use even more with its own set of tools. The company has been showing its technology since last year, but it has taken advantage of this week's DEMO Mobile conference to launch it officially, and reveals that its SDK will be available to developers in June (they can subscribe now if they are interested). to the technology itself, it promises to allow everything from the beginning of the session activated by the eyes to the controls based on the look and monitoring of the user's commitment, but it will not only work on all smartphones or tablets with Android. It has some basic hardware requirements that the company says will only cost manufacturers an extra dollar in materials.
