Abstract

The state of art of electric motors, related components and market related problems has been discussed. Recently, new topologies of high torque density motors, high speed motors, integrated (smart) motors and special motors have been developed. Progress in electric motors is driven by new materials, new areas of applications, increasing demand for reliability, integration of components and modern methods of CAD. New types of motors can only obtain comprehensive applications if their cost and quality are competitive for the used motors.
