The pill chamber can be defined as a device that has the shape of a pill and consists of a tiny camera. This device is used to record photos of the digestive system for medical purposes. The pill chamber is used in endoscopy of the capsule for visualization of the bowel and light wall. In this procedure, the patient swallows the camera from the pill that records the images as it passes through the entire tract. The main purpose of making the pill chamber is to examine those areas of the small intestine that remain unnoticed by the other forms of endoscopy such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy.

The goal of technology is to produce large-scale products for cheaper prices and higher quality. Current technologies have gained a part of it, but manufacturing technology is at the macro level. There is a device called as Diagnostic Imaging System that comes with the pill cam and consists of batteries, lights, camera and a transmitter. The wireless camera on the cam of the device takes thousands of high-quality images as it passes through the entire length of the small intestine. The normal pill chamber has a size of about 26 X 11 mm.

Working from a Pill Camera

The size of a pill chamber generally remains slightly larger than the size of a normal capsule. The capsule is swallowed by the patient and is propelled forward by the natural muscle waves of the digestive tract in the small intestine through the large intestine. After that, the pill chamber comes out on the stool. It takes two photos in a second as it is passed through the digestive tract. The images are transmitted by the capsule to a data logger, which is carried by the patient in a belt around his or her waist. The patient can work as usual as the normal day after swallowing the pill chamber.

The stored data is transferred to the doctor to your computer for further analysis. Normally, the process takes about eight hours to complete. According to the study, the pill chamber is safe to use and has no side effects.

 The pill chamber can transmit images from the inside out of the body. Consequently, it is impossible to control the behavior of the camera, including the on / off functions and the effective illuminations inside the intestine.

 It is risky to test this procedure in patients who have gastrointestinal structures because of the risk of obstruction. In addition, there is the possibility that the camera of the pill can not traverse within the digestive system in a free way.

 If there is a partial obstruction in the patient's small intestine, there is a risk that the pill will get stuck there and the patient may have a bowel obstruction and end up in the emergency room.

Pill camera is one of his examples that takes pictures of our intestine and transmits the same to the receiver of the Computer for the analysis of our digestive system. This process can help in tracking any type of digestive system related illness. Also mentioned are some drawbacks of PILL CAMERA and how these drawbacks can be overcome by using a grain size motor and a bidirectional wireless telemetry capsule.
