The roller presses are centered around two counter-rotating rollers, supported on the frame by self-aligning roller bearings. In addition to radial loads, the bearings are capable of supporting axial loads acting in both directions, making them insensitive to the inclination of the shaft during operation.
The fixed roller is supported directly on the press frame, while the so-called floating roller is supported in the frame by a hydro-pneumatic spring. The movement of the floating roller is the basic principle of a roller press. The extent of roller movement (roller gap) is a function of the pressure force generated by the hydraulic system in relation to the reaction forces exerted by the material being processed and the pre-set "zero position" of the roller space . The separation is controlled by means of the hydraulic supply unit depending on the requirements of the specific process. This design feature ensures that all feed material passes through the roller space under the same process conditions, thus ensuring that the output quality of the product remains constant.
