Robo Soccer

[attachment=17153]

Problem Statement
This event requires each team to build one manually controlled (wired/wireless) robot which would compete against each other in a game of soccer. The normal rules of soccer apply.
Both teams are required to build one robot which can compete in a game of soccer for duration of 5 minutes.

Rules and Regulations:
• Each team is required to construct 1robot.
• The maximum number of participants in a team is 4.Each member must produce a valid ID card of his/her respective institution. However students from different sections can form a team.
• The usual rules of soccer apply. A foul shall be called in case of
o In case of a deadlock (50-50 chance for both the teams) the game would be resumed from the centre.
o In case robot get out of the arena.
• Damaging the arena will lead to disqualification.
• The robots can use the side wall for reflecting the ball. It won't be considered as a foul.
• Dribbler mechanisms can be used; however the ball must have at least one direction for free motion.
• The ball can be dribbled and hit from any part of the robot.
• Even own goals are counted.
• The dimension of both the bots should remain the same at any point of the game.
• The decisions of the coordinators would be final.

Judging Criteria:
• The game has two halves each of duration 2.5 minutes. (Subject to change.)
• The winner of the toss is allowed to opt for a side or to take the first kick.
• In the second half the side will be changed and the other team will be allowed to take the first kick.
• In case a foul is called by the referee, the team which commits the foul will concede a penalty to the opponent depending on the location about which the foul has occurred. If it occurs so within the D region, it would be considered as a penalty. In the event of a penalty only one bot is permitted from each side to stay in the arena. The penalty kick would be taken from a distance of 60 cm (edge of the D).
• For a foul occurring elsewhere in the arena the possession would be conceded and the opponent is awarded a spot kick.
• After the event of a penalty the game would resume from the centre.
• The team with the maximum score according to the scoring formula mentioned below will be qualifying for the second round. Even still if there a tie, then there will be a penalty shootout.
• The penalty shootout will be 'best of 3'. In case the tie is still not resolved then the game will decided by 'sudden death penalties'
• Second round will be on knockout basis.
• Each team is awarded points based on the formula:
50*G - 30*O -5*F where, G is the number of goals scored by your bot. F is the number of fouls. O is the number of self goals.
