A sugar cane mill can refer to a factory that processes sugarcane to produce raw or white sugar. It can also mean the piece of equipment that crushes the sticks of the sugarcane to extract the juice. The extraction of juice by grinding is the process of squeezing the juice from the cane in set mills using high pressure between the heavy iron rollers. These mills can have from 3 to 6 rolls; Each set of mills is called a tandem train or mill. To improve the extraction efficiency of milling, imbibition water is added in each mill: hot water is poured on the cane just before it enters the last mill in the milling mill and is recirculated until it reaches the first mill. The juice squeezed from this cane has a low concentration of sugar and is pumped into the previous mill and poured into the cane just before it enters the rollers, the juice from this mill is pumped in the same way as the milling train. The mixed juice (ie the cane juice mixed with the water introduced in the last mill) is removed from the first and second mill and sent for further processing. Milling trains usually have four, five or six mills in tandem. To improve the milling extraction performance before the cane reaches the first mill, the knife and the crusher are normally used as preparation equipment.
