Storage capacity of reservoir:

The available Storage capacity depends upon the size and the height of dam.
Engineering surveys are usually conducted for preliminary estimation of the capacity.
Survey of Indian map can be used .Scale 1cm=500m(RF=1/50000)and1cm=2500
(RF=1/250000)

For accurate determination of the capacity a topographic survey of the area is usually conducted and a contour map of the area is prepared.
A Contour plan of the area is prepared to a scale of 1cm=100m or 150m(RF=1/10000)or1/15000 with a contour interval 1to3m
