REMOTE DEKSTOP MONITOR
Abstract
It is very uncomfortable for a network administrator to continuously monitor the activities performed on the user machines, to communicate with a user any time and control the system whenever he wants. This work requires a great physical and mental exercise. In a big organization, which is big in terms of area and number of computer systems as well, the situation may become more unfavorable.
Remote Desktop Monitor is a client-server based system which integrates multiple network utilities such as desktop monitoring, communication and control of the remote client machine as a solution of the above-mentioned problems. It provides better facilities to the network administrator. Platform independence is another feature of the system that extends its area of applicability. The system can be further enhanced in future to provide more functionality as the total development is based on Component Based Development (CBD) process model.
Keywords:
1. INTRODUCTION
It is very unfavorable and time wasting for network administrators to walk physically over each computer in the intranet to watch the activities going on in each systems over there , communicate with the person who is sitting there and operate the machine every time if some control operation such as disk-scan, virus-scan etc. is to be performed .
2. PROBLEM DOMAIN
3. SOLUTION DOMAIN
Our aim is to design and implement a utility for the intranet of an organization to constantly keep under surveillance all the client systems connected to a central server. The focal point of our work is to provide supremacy to network administrators so that whole of the network can be controlled by sitting on a single computer (server).
4. SYSTEM DOMAIN
The system domain can be basically divides in two categories. These are described as follows:
5.1. Hardware Specification
• At the time of Development
Minimum Hardware Requirement:
• Hardware for implementing TCP/IP Networking.
• RAM : 128 MB
• CPU Processor: 800 MHz Intel Celeron processor or equivalent.
• At the time of Deployment

5.2. Software Specification
• At the time of Development
Minimum Software Requirement:
• Operating System : Windows 98/2000/XP
• JDK-1.4.2 : For Java Class Libraries and Java Runtime Environment.
• NetBeans Integrated Development Environment for Coding and Debugging

5. APPLICATION DOMAIN
• Online education : This can be done through broadcasting the server screen to specified number of clients.
• Group chat : The current facility of communication between server and client can be enhanced to provide multiple-client server communication and client-client communication.
Video conferencing : The project can be enhanced to provide video-conferencing facility by capturing and transmitting the images coming from a digital camera
