• The size of the real estate industry in India is estimated by FICCI, to be around US$ 12 billion.
• Almost 80 % of real estate developed in India, is residential space and the rest comprise office, shopping malls, hotels and hospitals.
• Estimates worked out show that 42 million sq. ft. of space will be required every year till 2009, only in I.T. and I.T. - enabled services especially in the cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata.
Major township projects in West Bengal
• In Uttarpara, Hooghly 40 km away from Kolkata Sriram Sonar Bangla Township project have started.

Findings
• Most of the respondents are businessman (50%).
• Majority of the people wanted 3BHK houses with price ranging from 20-40 lakhs in Kolkata and sub-urbs.
• The demand for 2BHK houses comes next with price ranging from 20-40 and 41-60 in Kolkata and sub-urbs.
• The demand for penthouses (1 BHK) and villa (4BHK) is very less.
• Also the majority of people want to live in Kolkata and sub-urbs.
• Most of the people choose PRINT MEDIA as a source of information while buying and searching for a property.
Business Proposal
• A business proposal of a township with IT hub and other amenities can be successful in Singur.
• Singur is place being a sub-urbs of Kolkata and having good network by roads can be good site for a real estate project. It is well connected by Durgapur Express Highway NH2.
• A township project is possible in a 400 acres land in Mollickpore, Singur, Hooghly. It is 2 km away from Tata small car project.
