Storage tanks and tank top are used to store water, liquid petroleum, petroleum products and similar liquids. The analysis of the strength of the tanks or tanks is approximately the same regardless of the chemical nature of the product. All tanks are designed as crack-free structures to eliminate any leakage.
A water tank is used to store the water to the tide on the daily requirement. In the construction of concrete structures for the storage of water and other liquids, the impermeability of concrete is more essential. Cracks can be avoided by avoiding the use of a thick wooden formwork that prevents the easy escape of the heat of hydration from the concrete mass. The risk of cracking can also be minimized by reducing restrictions on free expansion or contraction of the structure.
The design of the reinforced concrete water tank is based on IS 3370: 2009 (Parts I - IV). The design depends on the location of the tanks, ie above, in the underground or underground water tanks. Tanks can be made in various generally circular shapes and rectangular shapes are mostly used. The tanks can be RCC or even steel. The overhead tanks are usually raised from the roof through the column. On the other hand the underground tanks rest on the base.
TYPES OF WATER TANK
Based on the location of the tank in a building s tanks can be classified into three categories. Those are:
• Underground tanks
• Tank that rests on the floor
• Air tanks
In most cases underground and ground tanks are circular or rectangular in shape but the shape of the tanks above is influenced by the aesthetic view of the environment and by the design of the building.
Steel tanks are also used especially in railroad yards. Based on the shape the tanks can be circular, rectangular, square, polygonal, spherical and conical. A special type of tank called Intze tank is used to store large amount of water for an area.
The head tanks are supported by the column acting as stages. This column can be supported to increase strength and as well to improve aesthetic sights.
