Rapid Alerts for Festive Blasts

Abstract

Objective:
Rapid Alerts for Festive Blasts is a free SMS and EMAIL reminder service available to anyone with a Mobile Number & Email address. With today's busy schedules, it's quite easy to let important dates slip our minds. Schedule reminders days, weeks, months, or even years in advance. Setup one time or recurring notifications. NEVER forget a birthday, meeting, bill pay or other important date again!

Description:
Sending Mails and Messages from website using ASP.NET is very easy.
The mail message is delivered either through the SMTP mail service built into Microsoft Windows 2000 using System.Web.Mail namespace or through an arbitrary SMTP server. The System.Web.Mail namespace contains classes that enable you to construct and send messages using the CDOSYS (Collaboration Data Objects for Windows 2000) message component.
Various mechanisms are used to provide a way to send SMS messages from a desktop computer. In most cases, these either provide a transfer and billing mechanism to interface with a mobile phone carrier, possibly via one or many third parties, or directly control a mobile phone or other GSM device.
IP SMS gateways are be used in our application. These gateways connect directly to the Short Message Service Center (SMSC) of the SMS service providers using one of the following protocols: SMPP, UCP/EMI, CIMD2. Most IP SMS gateways provide various API's that allow software developers to send and receive large number of messages.
Reminder Service: In our application a web service is created which will run always in the web server. While running that service picks the reminders from the database which are created by the users, only the reminders whose schedule time is less than or equal to the present time at that instant will be picked. And checked whether that is an email reminder or a SMS reminder, if email reminder then sending an email using mail service, if SMS reminder then sending an SMS through gateway. We can also set a limit for SMS reminders.
