The current era is an era of knowledge workers and the society in which we are living has arrived, to be known as a knowledge society. Intellectual occupations have taken precedence over physical efforts. Some knowledge workers work more than 60 hours a week. As a result, his hobbies and personal interests collide with his work. Life is a package containing all threads and therefore the need to balance work life with other related topics. "One must have love and work in one's life to make it healthier." Gone are the days when employee priority used to be for physical and material needs.As the economy shifts to the knowledge economy, Meaning and quality of working life have undergone a drastic change.


Quality of Working Life (QWL) refers to the favoring or unfavorable nature of a working environment for people working in an organization. The period of scientific management that focused solely on specialization and efficiency has undergone a revolutionary change. Traditional management (such as scientific management) did not pay sufficient attention to human values. In today's scenario, the needs and aspirations of employees are changing. Employers are now redesigning jobs for a better QWL.
The QWL as a Human Resource Management strategy has assumed a growing interest and importance. Many other terms have been used interchangeably with the QWL as "humanization of labor", "quality of working life", "industrial democracy" and "participatory labor".

Dissatisfaction with working life affects workers some time or another, regardless of their position or status. Frustration, boredom, and anger common to employees can be costly to both individuals and organizations.

Managers seek to reduce job dissatisfaction at all organizational levels, including their own. This is a complex problem, however, because it is difficult to isolate and identify the attributes that affect the quality of working life.

The profitability of a company is linked to the satisfaction of its workforce. A company that does not measure and improve employee satisfaction may face increased turnover, decreased productivity, and limited ability to attract and retain qualified replacements.
